Another topic discussed in my Government/economics class was everything about civics. Civics is the study of the rights, duties and responsibilities as a U.S. citizen. Before that lesson I didn't know much about this but in this lesson I learned the various Duties and Responsibilities as a citizen. The duties as a citizen vary from the obvious like following the law, paying taxes, Defending the nation: registering for selective service. And other things like serving in courts in courts and another simple one like having to go to school until the age of 16. I one does not follow these duties one can get in serious trouble. You can either have to pay a fine or go to jail for not having done your duties as a US citizen.
The other set are the civic responsibilities, those are the things that one should just be aware of, like it's not mandatory but it's recommended to do so. Some,e of the things are like knowing what the government is doing so that you can have the chance to voice your opinion. Other things are like reading the newspapers or watching the news or the radio, simple things like that aware people of things that may or are already happening. other things that one could do are important things like speaking up about things and voting for the most part. One should also respect others rights and opinions that the y may have.
